Mine was Idiocracy. Justin Long is so funny in this movie.

I usually don't go out to movies. It's virtually impossible to get my schedule (taking care of Mom full time) and the boys (who work almost none stop to pay the bills.)...so I rent or buy DVD's.
The last one I seem to be caught up on is Constantine. I have a role play character that reminds me of him and I'm forever re-watching the movie for hints and character flaws.

'Beowulf', it was okay. I was a 'Hellblazer' fan, the comic on which 'Constantine' is based for a few years before things like a mortgage and buying food got in the way of my comics collecting. I simply cannot bring myself to see the movie. There are instances where you are stretched to picture someone in a part and wind up surprised, or vindicated, then - well- some things are just wrong . Keanu Reeves as John Constantine is one of those and I'm not typically one of 'those' fans that go into convulsions if every detail is not to perfection. I even forgive what Jennifer Garner did to Elektra because they threw in Will and that appeased my sensibilities. A-lot. How vapid is that?

I guess its a good thing my brother was the one who collected comics. I only watched Elektra because of Will. In fact we had it for quite a while before I even bothered with it because I had not looked at what Will was doing for a while. (probably because I was too busy helping the web mistress for Angus Macfadyen's website find goodies).
And I actually can see other actors that might have done a better job with John....anyone you were really looking to see in the role?

Hmmm, British subject an absolute must. I've lived in the UK, I've never seen a Yank that could pull off that innate dry surliness they possess and Constantine was the epitome of that caustic outlook.
To quote my friend when we learned Keanu was playing the part "ANYONE but Keanu Reeves!", I'll have to defrag my way back through memory a few years to recall exactly who we favored at the time.
As a base though- pasty faced chain smoking blond Brit with an acid wit and more than a little darkness in his core. Think Sting in his thirties. Always thought that's who he looked like in the beginning. A nasty version.

And another actor that has a whole range.

Actually, I knew his face instantly but he's one I never knew the name of. Afraid that happens, these days, if I see someone and don't catch the name, I bolt for the computer and episode guides before my itty bitty brain wanders off elsewhere.

Now see, that's what I do. I had seen Sean in several things. But I never knew his name till I watched "Silent Hill" and just had to know who he was. Now I've caught up on just about everything the man has done.

Oh no Dev, I'm buggered. Whilst defragging in search of my John Constantine, the blonde and Brit search engine latched on to 'Legolas'- Orlando Bloom. Methinks my search engine just overheated and seized. Have to get back to you on that Constantine question...
Back on that Constatine question... number one Tim Roth, no doubt he could do the character justice. Number two, Marc Warren of 'Hustle', closest in looks, not actually familiar with his work. I squirm but my friend put him out as 'the box office draw' choice, Jude Law- who does absolutely nothing for me, not in any role I've seen.

Last movie I watched was "Two came back" (dvd). It's a horrible movie, but I watched only because of Jonathan Brandis.

Went to see Golden Compass last night and thoroughly enjoyed it! The little girl in the lead role was a total pistol. Awesome graphics, voices of Ian McKellen and Ian McShane (Lovejoy forever!)
For all the controversy, it is simply played as a classic good v evil fantasy fiction, and well done at that.

We saw National Treasure last night, fun to watch, as simple as that. One of those movies where the actors have seemingly great espirit de corps and too much fun themselves. Oscar worthy, no, good clean escapist fun and the venerable Helen Mirren has been added as Ben Gates (Nick Cage) mother. She does the dreaded strong opinionated woman well.
